Creating your own projects is a good way to educate people and create change. The project you choose depends entirely on you and what you want from it. It is a good way to learn new skills, experiment and push your design limits.

Choose an issue that interests you and concept a way you would like to express, help or promote the issue. This could range from entering online design comps and introducing your issue into your work to creating a whole website or exhibition.

The Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) run design events aimed at helping charities with design. An example is their Design Conscience 2002 Poster project.

Jade Palmer wanted to help disadvantaged children so he created Basefield. This website sells artprints and posters to raise money for the kids.
